We also learned Coach Pete is more than just a pretty face
He made two strategic moves against JMU that paid off.
First was the batting order. Most coaches are reluctant to make lineup changes when winning.
However, Pete moved Jaime Bailey into the leadoff spot and she responded by getting on base 5 out of 6 times via 3 hits, a walk, and a HBP, and scoring 3 runs.
In the field, he gambled with a pretty dramatic shift against JMU's Cambry Arnold, bringing in Emma Strouth to the infield and going with only 2 outfielders. The Picture below show Emma almost on 2nd base.
It worked as Arnold, who was batting .298 previously, went 0-3 and was pinch hit for in game one.
Nice moves that paid off.
